DocZap's PDF tools run inside your browser. Your file is read and rebuilt on your own device. Two quick checks let you confirm that for yourself in under five minutes. Try them with Merge PDF, Protect PDF, or Redact PDF.
Method 1: watch the Network tab
- Open the Merge PDF page in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari.
- Open developer tools: press F12 (Windows, Linux) or Cmd+Option+I (Mac). In Safari, enable the Develop menu first.
- Select the Network tab and click the clear button so the list starts empty.
- Add two PDF files to the tool and click Merge. Then download the result.
- Look through the list of requests. You will see none that carry your PDF. Requests that appear here are page assets or analytics pings, and none contain file data.
- Click any request and open its Payload or Request tab. Confirm it holds no file name or file content.
Method 2: go offline
- Open a tool such as Merge PDF and wait for the page to finish loading.
- In developer tools, open the Network tab and set throttling to Offline. Or turn off your Wi-Fi.
- Add your files and run the tool. It still works, because the processing code is already in your browser.
- Download the result. Nothing needed a connection.
What you will see, and what it means
Some requests will appear even when a tool never touches the network with your file. They are analytics and ad requests from Google and Vercel. They carry the page address and the tool name, never your document. Word to PDF and PDF to Word are the exceptions to the rule. They use a private conversion service and delete your file right after conversion, and each tool page says so.
